My favorite quilt for the online quilt festival..... gone but not forgotten....

The online quilt festival...just found it at Park city Girls blog...and have to post my favorite quilt. It is the one pictured in my heading.... it was the first quilt I made in South Africa, and the first quilt that the girl I taught to hand quilt did for me while I lived there. It unfortunately was stolen when our home was burglarized. I offered a reward and the local paper kindly ran a featured article about the missing quilt, but to no avail.... I console myself with the fact that it is most likely keeping someone in South Africa warm, expecially now that winter is coming on in the Southern hemisphere. It was made using South African schwe-schwe, printed and produced by the Da Gama fabric company. I loved those geometric prints. And absolutely loved having this quilt on my bed...for the short time it was in my possession. PS- Don't forget the GIVEAWAY at JEN's Blog.

Oh, I am so sad that the quilt is gone, but love that you taught someone to quilt...that is the gift that will keep on giving!

LOVE this quilt it is absolutely stunning! How sad to have no idea where that gorgeous quilt is and what has become of it. Hopefully wherever it is, it is loved.

Oh that is so sad. It is a beautiful quilt and at least you have a record of it. Have you thought about trying to reproduce it?

That is a beautiful quilt, and I'm so sorry it was stolen.

I spent a year in Uganda and took along a project to work on while there. What started as a twin-size quilt for my son turned into a king size :-) Sorta got carried away. LOL Just finished the top while there; had it quilted when I went back to the U.S.

Now trying to find other quilters in Argentina. None in the town where I'm living so will just have to recruit some new friends to learn how to quilt :-)

Thanks for stopping by my blog during the Quilt Festival!

I am sorry that such a significant quilt was stolen. Luckily you have this great picture that reminds you of the quilt and the people associated with it.
